Proper ventilation of the product is essential for high-yield storage and reducing storage losses for products like potatoes and onions. Tolsma - Grisnich has developed several products for both box and bulk storage. These ventilation systems are tailored to meet the needs of our customers and are widely applied. Storing potatoes is similar to storing onions. Like all root vegetables, potatoes must be dried before storage after being harvested. After the drying process, the curing process begins to prevent decay in potatoes damaged during harvesting or handling and to ensure the formation of skins. After this process, the potato temperature is gradually reduced by 0.5°C each day to prepare for cold storage. In cold storage, seed potatoes are kept between 2 - 4°C, while other types of potatoes are stored between 4 - 10°C. However, in cold storage, controlling not only temperature and humidity but also carbon dioxide levels is critical. Rising carbon dioxide must be controlled and kept within specific limits.
